Year 8 take to the seas

Posted: 24th June 2016

Last week eleven boys took part in an adventure sailing across the Solent.  Boys arrived to some wet weather in Portsmouth which continued throughout the week, but favourable wind conditions allowed the boys to push themselves when tacking and jibing. Boys exhibited many of the school values when placed in new and uncomfortable situations, stepping up to the demands required by our Tall Ships Crew. The boys were exposed to various scenarios that can arise when at sea illustrating the importance of focus and communication as a crew.  As the week progressed boys developed good interdependent skills and team building to successfully crew the yacht – particularly highlighted with the ever popular night sail.
