In the first few weeks of term, Pre-Prep parents were invited to attend the English and Maths Workshops. In the English Workshop, Miss Reynolds discussed and demonstrated cursive handwriting for the parents to try out themselves. As well as tips for reading at home, parents also got to try out using strategies in phonics such as how to use ‘sound buttons’ and how to segment words for spelling. In the Maths Workshop, the focus was looking more closely at how we teach the four operations at Dulwich Prep London and how to support with these at home. Parents were able to experiment with concrete resources to make ‘the bar model’ which the boys have been practising in their classes this month.
