“A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men.” ―Gloria Steinem
For the last two weeks, 8C have spent their time working on a piece of drama with the title “This Is What A Feminist Looks Like” with Mr Sperring in the Drama Studio. Surprisingly, the boys had no need to change their appearance at all; after all, the boys at Dulwich Prep London are feminists already. The idea of feminism is a much broader ideal than the superficial connotations, and it is now more important than ever to make sure all of the boys at The Prep reaffirm the need for equality in all walks of life. Using writers such as Maya Angelou, Margaret Atwood, Caryl Churchill and Carol Ann Duffy, our boys have been sensitively exploring what it means to have equality in gender – as much as race, age and sexuality – and how important it is to remove preconceptions of gender imbalance as they come into question in business, politics, and the world at large. We hope all of our boys are feminists as Gloria Steinem states; striving for equality in all aspects of life, both inside and outside The Prep.
