First Pupils' Concert of the year

Posted: 17th October 2018

Tuesday evening’s Pupils’ Concert was a fantastic start to this year’s series of concerts. There was a great array of instruments played, from double bass and euphonium to the viola and accordion and a wide age range of boys performing, from Pre-Prep to Year 8. There was much to enjoy throughout the evening and all the boys played beautifully, demonstrating how busy they have been practising at the start of this school year. There were three memorising monkeys in Hugo, Max and Louie who all played from memory. There were lots of playful penguins including Shaquan’s performance of Hadjiev’s Rondino and Hector’s sweet-toned trumpet playing of the ‘Black Adder theme tune’. The habits of mind on show were ‘Thinking and communicating with clarity and precision’ and this was demonstrated in particular in Leo’s dazzling performance of Seitz’s Concerto for violin and finally there was ‘Listening with understanding and empathy’ as we all listened to Louis bring the concert to a glorious, peaceful end with Mascagni’s Intermezzo.  Thank you to all the boys for all their hard work and for a super concert.
