Year 3 Egyptian Day

Posted: 20th March 2018

Another wondrous day for the boys in Lower School as Year 3 donned Pharaoh Headdresses and death masks in order to travel back to Ancient Egyptian times. The boys were lucky enough to meet ‘Mr Egypt’ (Phillip Harris) who is a working Egyptologist of 41 years! He shared with the boys his inspiring experiences of holding Tutankhamun’s death masks when he was a young man and also allowed the boys to touch real artefacts from the tombs of souls from more than 5000 years ago. The mummification of their peers, snake dancing and their journey into the afterlife were other delights the boys enjoyed. A midday refuelling of a tasty Egyptian banquet kept them all energised throughout the afternoon to enjoy the challenge of decoding the mystery of ancient hieroglyphics.
