Y8 Sorrento Trip

Posted: 8th November 2017

A very early start saw the party of 35 boys and 6 staff arrive at our hotel by lunchtime to a short sharp downpour! Luckily it was the only rain of the trip, and the afternoon saw us play football at the local ’campo’, swim and take in a scenic walk before heading out to make gelato in the evening (with Sorrento lemons).

We climbed Vesuvius (in a strong cold wind but with blue skies) told tales of Pliny and then headed for the ruins of Herculaneum. Pompeii was spectacular as well and evening shopping and pizza with the sunset as backdrop was amazing.

Our last full day in Naples was also very special. At the museum we saw many varied and awe-inspiring archaeological finds from the two towns we had visited whose futures changed so dramatically in 79ad. In the afternoon we made our first visit to the tunnels beneath Naples which was a whole world within itself. Emerging into the winter sunshine, the vibrancy of the city returned from the silent, dark and mysterious world full of stories and history below.

Another super trip and with great memories to those who experienced the wonders, beauty and history of the Bay of Naples.
