Under 11s kick off the Football Season

Posted: 13th September 2017

football-1

Congratulations to the under 11A team for their performance in the Shrewsbury House Football tournament.  The team lost their first game to Rokeby School 1-0 after dominating the game and losing to a deflected goal.  They then when on to play Cumnor House School and won 1-0 with a fabulous goal by Hugo Richards.  They drew their final game 0-0 to Shrewsbury House.

The team finished 3rd in the pool and progressed to playing in the plate competition.  In the semi-final they played Hamilton School and won 1-0 with a lovely goal by Joe Creasey.  The boys went on to play Cumnor House School in the final.  The game went back and forward with some highly entertaining football.  They lost the final 1-0 and finished the tournament as runners up in the plate.

It was a great start to the season, playing under challenging conditions. A special mention must go to Oscar Murphy and Joe Creasey who were nominated as players of the tournament.  Well done to Oscar for his calm and composed performance and to Joe for his high energy and hustling for the ball from the opponent.

Thank you to all the boys for their efforts and to the parents who came to support the team. We are all looking forward to the next tournament and group of matches.

Good luck for the season.
