High Flying Skiers

Posted: 22nd March 2017

Each March the Italian resorts of Passo Tonale and Ponte de Legno become the base for the IAPS Ski Championships. This year the standard was very high indeed with almost 250 competitors from more than 20 schools. The competition sees teams 4 skiers racing over a Giant Slalom course before the best three times are added together to give a team total.

Each school is allocated an Italian coach and a week of training and qualifying races culminate in the Plate and Championship races.

All our boys skied very well indeed and responded brilliantly to their coach’s advice but special congratulations must go to Jed, James, Lucas and Kit, our Under 11 Championship team, on their excellent performance in winning the Bronze medal.

Improving their skiing was great for the boys but the real ‘experience’ was being part of this highly professional event and getting a chance to compete at a high level in an individual sport like no other we do at school.
