Do you know the difference between an en garde, lunge and parry? 1D certainly do after Friday when Lucas Heath’s mum came in to teach the boys about fencing. Highly experienced in the sport, Mrs Esimaje-Heath introduced the boys to the different types of swords, fencing equipment and how to play by the rules. She explained how fencers demonstrate good sportsmanship by saluting and shaking hands with their opponent as well as with the referee. The boys were keen to find out more about this traditional and 2016 Olympic sport so we finished by practising some cool fencing moves. En garde!
